Product Description:

The S30601-EC servo drive is manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the S300 Servo Drives series. Designed for closed-loop control of brushless or induction servomotors in automated machinery, the unit converts three-phase mains power into a regulated output that follows motion commands delivered by networked controllers. By embedding drive electronics inside a compact cabinet-mountable frame, the product streamlines axis control and provides the power conversion, current regulation, and protective features needed for precise industrial positioning tasks.

It draws three-phase mains within 208–480 V and internally rectifies the supply onto a DC link rated up to 900 VDC. Under continuous operation, the drive delivers 6 A RMS of phase current and absorbs up to 5 kVA at the input, while the transistor bridge is pulse-width modulated at 8 kHz to limit torque ripple. Peak demands are satisfied with 12 A RMS, while relay contacts for brake-to-torque-off circuits can switch 500 mA. Logic circuitry accepts digital inputs up to 30 VDC and sources digital outputs up to 10 mA, and the residual voltage on the power stage falls to 5 V after shutdown. Two RJ-45 fieldbus ports expose an EtherCAT interface that carries motion commands and diagnostic data.

Thermal losses are limited to 12 W when the output stage is disabled and reach 90 W at the rated load, figures that simplify cabinet cooling calculations. During transient acceleration, the inverter supplies 12 A RMS without derating, while the integrated STO circuit disconnects gate drives to satisfy functional safety requirements. The housing measures 70 mm in width, 279 mm in height, and 171 mm in depth, allowing high-density mounting on DIN rails beside contactors and filters. Front-face power and signal connectors also help simplify cable routing in multi-axis assemblies.
