The S30361-SE is a compact digital servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the S300 Servo Drives series. Classified by the manufacturer as an S300 servo drive, it converts AC mains power into the controlled DC bus and high-frequency PWM needed to run synchronous servo motors. By regulating torque, speed, and position under command of an external motion controller, the unit supports precise automation on packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and small conveyor axes while keeping cabinet wiring density low through its integrated power stage and fieldbus slot.
The power front end accepts a single- or three-phase line of 110…230 V at 50/60 Hz and draws a continuous apparent power of 1.1 kVA. Under these conditions, the inverter supplies up to 3 A rms of motor current. The rectifier charges a DC link limited to 450 VDC; if the bus rises to 455 VDC, the overvoltage trip disconnects the stage. Current is modulated at 8 kHz, which helps minimize audible noise and torque ripple when paired with windings that have at least 4.3 mH of inductance on a 230 V three-phase supply. Support for both one- and three-phase mains gives machine builders flexibility during plant retrofits where only single-phase service is present.
Regenerative energy produced during deceleration is dissipated by an internal brake rated at 20 W and connected to a 66 ohm resistor, avoiding the need for an external dump assembly on light-inertia axes. Drive-integrated safety is provided by the certified STO function, which removes torque-producing power without interrupting the supply contactor. For deterministic multi-axis control, an expansion slot houses a SERCOS interface card; telegrams flow through the fiber-optic ring at 2/4/8/16 Mbaud via an F-SMA connector, giving synchronized position updates across the machine.
