The S30361-PN is produced by Kollmorgen as part of the S300 Servo Drives series. This compact servo drive supplies controlled three-phase power to brushless and synchronous motors so automated axes can accelerate, position, and hold with closed-loop precision. By converting line voltage to a modulated output, it serves as the interface between a motion controller and the motor windings, executing torque or velocity commands while monitoring system feedback. Two analog channels and built-in discrete I/O permit real-time command exchange, making the unit suitable for pick-and-place heads, printing cylinders, and small indexing tables that require responsive motion control.
The drive accepts a mains supply of 110–230 V and provides a continuous phase output of 3 A rms. Pulse-width modulation operates at 8 kHz, which helps limit current ripple and audible noise. With a maximum apparent power draw of 1.1 kVA, branch protection and wiring can be selected without unnecessary oversizing. Functional safety is integrated through STO, which disconnects drive energy internally when the safety circuit opens. Four digital inputs and two digital outputs handle start, limit, and fault signals, while thermal losses are 12 W at idle and 35 W at rated operation. A residual voltage drop of 4 V across the power stage remains essentially constant over temperature, which supports predictable bus utilization.
Bus voltage is supervised, and the drive trips at 455 VDC during an over-energy event to help prevent capacitor or transistor overstress during regeneration. Motors connected to 230 V lines must have at least 4.3 mH of phase inductance so the current regulators remain stable at the switching rate used by the drive. Cabinet space is conserved because the housing width is 70 mm, and the unit has a depth of 171 mm with a height of 246 mm. Mechanical load on DIN rail hardware is low because the unit weighs only 2.6 kg. The enclosure channels heat to the rear plate, and the STO, analog, and digital terminals are grouped on the front for straightforward field wiring.
