Product Description:
The S30301-PB is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen in the S300 Servo Drives series. By rectifying and modulating three-phase mains power, it delivers controlled current to servo motors so that automated packaging lines, pick-and-place modules, and material-handling axes maintain commanded speed and position with closed-loop precision. The model also integrates fieldbus communication and onboard braking, which helps reduce the number of separate components needed inside the cabinet.
It accepts a device input range of 208...480 V on a three-phase supply, eliminating the need for external tap transformers in many installations. A rated input power of 2.5 kVA supports continuous output operation, while the peak capability of 7.5 A rms covers acceleration and short shock loads. The power stage switches at 8 kHz, which supports responsive current control and smooth motor operation. The output stage also uses a voltage slew rate of 6.9 kV/µs, which is suited to modern motor winding insulation. Mechanical integration is aided by a height of 279 mm and a depth of 171 mm, allowing dense vertical stacking in compact panels. An optional PROFIBUS expansion card mounts on the front panel, and two 9-pin Sub-D ports allow bus traffic to pass through to neighboring axes without an external repeater.
The internal braking circuit uses a resistor rated at 91 ohms that dissipates up to 50 W continuously and can absorb 9 kW pulses during emergency stops. Energy is shunted whenever the DC bus approaches 900 VDC, and at that level the overvoltage monitor starts a controlled shutdown to protect the IGBT power stage. Functional safety is provided by STO (Safe Torque Off), which removes gate signals so motor torque drops to zero without external relays or contactors. Cabinet planning is also eased by the 70 mm width, which allows side-by-side mounting with minimal airflow spacing. PROFIBUS connectivity and the integrated braking function let the drive operate as a compact axis in coordinated industrial motion systems.
