Product Description:
The S30101-FN servo amplifier is manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the S300 Servo Drives series. It is an AC-fed motion controller that converts the incoming three-phase supply into regulated DC and high-frequency pulse patterns for precise motor excitation. In automated assembly lines, the drive supplies commanded torque and speed reference to connected servo motors, enabling repeatable indexing, tension control, and coordinated multi-axis movements that support modern industrial robotics and material handling systems. Its hardware design follows the compact book-style format common to cabinet-mounted servo packs and helps conserve panel space in multi-axis systems.
The power stage accepts a three-phase input of 208 to 480 VAC and rectifies it onto a DC bus that can rise during regeneration; an overvoltage circuit trips at 900 VDC to protect the semiconductors. Continuous output capability is rated at 1.5 A rms, while the drive can momentarily dissipate braking energy through a 9 kW pulse resistor. Command signals are processed through an analog interface that spans ±10 V, and pulse-width modulation is generated at 8 kHz to reduce current ripple in motors whose inductance is no lower than 17.8 mH. With an input power requirement of 1.2 kVA, the unit exhibits a du/dt of 6.9 kV/µs across the output devices.
The housing width is 70 mm and the depth is 171 mm, permitting high cabinet density while still leaving clearance for airflow from the controlled fan used for additional cooling. Touch-safe construction is confirmed by the IP20 enclosure rating. Functional safety is supported through the dual-channel STO input, which removes gate-drive energy when activated. Dynamic energy is absorbed by a heat-sink-mounted resistor, and a 24 VDC, 2.5 A auxiliary supply powers the fan and logic circuits when line power is absent.
