The S30101-EC is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen as part of the S300 Servo Drives series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit converts incoming three-phase mains power into regulated motor current for closed-loop position or velocity control. Its role in an automation cell is to synchronize a servomotor with commands from the motion controller over EtherCAT. Two RJ-45 ports allow daisy-chain cabling, and the built-in Safe Torque Off circuit provides an electrical means of disabling motor power during machine stops.

Electrically, the drive accepts an input window from 208 to 480 V and delivers a continuous line current of 1.5 A rms. Short loading peaks are handled with up to 4.5 A on the motor phases, while the converter draws a maximum apparent power of 1.2 kVA from the supply. The integrated safety channel is implemented as STO, eliminating residual motion energy when activated. The DC link is permitted to rise no higher than 900 VDC, and the output bridge is modulated at 8 kHz during standard operation to balance control bandwidth and switching losses. Heat produced by the electronics reaches 40 W at rated load and is released to the cabinet air through an IP20 housing, which provides limited finger protection and helps block solid objects larger than 12.5 mm. The enclosure measures 70 mm in width, 171 mm in depth, and 270 mm in height, so multiple axes can be mounted side by side on a DIN rail without exceeding common panel footprints.
