The SE10000 is a Kollmorgen servo drive in the S200 Servo Drives series that converts a fixed DC bus into pulse-width-modulated motor currents for precise torque, speed, and position regulation in industrial automation cells. It operates as the interface between a motion controller and a brushless servo motor, supplying regulated phase current while monitoring bus voltage, device temperature, and feedback integrity. These monitoring functions help keep axes synchronized during continuous operation or indexing duty cycles.
The power stage can deliver a continuous phase current of 10 A RMS and tolerate a peak current of 20 A RMS for rapid acceleration. With a bus voltage of 325 VDC, its output capability is rated at 3.6 kVA. Current is refreshed every 62.5 µs in the digital control loop, and the inverter switches at 8 kHz, providing tight torque control while limiting audible noise. Control electronics draw 1.1 A from the +8 V rail and 0.5 A from the ±15 V supplies. The drive does not have a supplemental electrical option card, so the standard I/O set remains active. The encoder interface supports cable lengths up to 15 m and accepts a 5 VDC, 250 mA supply. It also counts encoder edges produced at frequencies up to 12 MHz after quadrature multiplication.
The bus shuts down when voltage rises above 430 VDC and trips at a nominal undervoltage threshold of 125 VDC. A separate undervoltage fault occurs at 255 VDC to protect the drive during regenerative events. An internal sensor halts operation if the heat sink temperature reaches 90 °C. During normal operation, the assembly dissipates 120 W through convection across the drive’s heat sink. Cabinet airflow must remove this heat and prevent excessive ambient temperature rise around the enclosure. The protective functions monitor electrical and thermal conditions while the drive regulates motor current during changing loads.
