Kollmorgen's S21260-SDS is a digital servo drive in the S200 Servo Drives series. The unit interfaces with SynqNet networks through onboard option cards and micro-D connectors, allowing deterministic motion commands to reach connected brushless servomotors. In an automation cell, the drive converts AC line power to a regulated DC bus and modulates phase currents so the motor can follow precise torque, velocity, or position profiles. This operating method supports coordinated axis control in packaging, handling, and other industrial motion systems.
For single-phase installations, the drive can deliver a continuous output of 2500 W, while three-phase wiring raises that capacity to 4000 W. Its power stage supports 12 ARMS of continuous current and can reach 30 ARMS of peak current for short acceleration bursts. The analog current loop closes at 3 kHz, which directly affects torque response and mechanical bandwidth. An 800 Hz velocity loop corrects speed deviations rapidly during load transients, helping the motor stay on command during changing conditions. The drive also uses a 3.0-second peak timer, a 10,000 VA apparent power ceiling, and thermal algorithms to limit overload during commanded motion.
The internal DC link is nominally 320 VDC, and regenerated energy is dissipated when it rises toward 397 VDC. Ripple on the reconstructed sine output is minimized by a switching frequency of 16 kHz, which helps reduce acoustic noise and motor heating. The power section accepts utility supplies of 120/240 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz and automatically detects single-phase or three-phase input. Protection functions disconnect the bridge below the 150 VDC undervoltage point and report faults over the SynqNet interface. The 1.40 kg enclosure fits dense control cabinets, supports line isolation ratings up to 250 kVA, and retains feedback flexibility through SFD, Halls, EnDat 2.1, and sine encoder options.
