The S20630-VTS is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the S200 Servo Drives series. As an amplifier for brushless servomotors, it converts a regulated 90 VDC bus into three-phase outputs so motion controllers can impose precise velocity or torque commands on an axis. Used in industrial automation cells, it regulates current to the motor windings and reports position through multiple feedback interfaces.
Under a 75 VDC supply, this drive can deliver a continuous output of 500 W, while a shaft rating of 250 W at 40 °C and 3000 rpm reflects expected thermal limits inside a compact enclosure. The drive supports 6 ARMS continuous, 18 ARMS peak, so short bursts of acceleration are available without overheating. Its DC input ceiling is 90 VDC, and for rapid indexing the inverter can source up to 1500 VA during a one-second surge that may be extended to the specified 3.0 s peak window. Pulse-width modulation occurs at 31.2 kHz, which reduces audible switching noise and improves current fidelity when paired with motors whose inductance falls between 0.2 and 15 mH. The unit operates in velocity or torque mode and comes without an additional electrical option, which helps keep cabinet wiring simple.
Control dynamics are enhanced by a current loop bandwidth of 5 kHz and a velocity loop bandwidth of 800 Hz, giving quick response to trajectory changes commanded over CAN or SynqNet networks. Feedback connectivity includes SFD/Hall signals as standard, plus EnDat 2.1 and sine encoder cards for SynqNet, along with an SFD/Comcoder card when a CAN bus is preferred. The minimum supported motor inductance is 0.2 mH, while the upper limit of 15 mH permits longer coils typical of low-speed, high-torque servomotors. These operating ranges allow the drive to work with a broad selection of compatible motors and feedback formats.
