The S20330-SDS servo drive is manufactured by Kollmorgen and belongs to the S200 Servo Drives series. This compact DC-bus unit is intended to energize and regulate brushless servomotors used in packaging machines, small gantries, and semiconductor handling equipment. By modulating phase current delivered to the motor windings, the drive provides precise torque and speed control for closed-loop motion tasks in industrial automation. It supports SynqNet network architecture through an optional card so that multiple axes can be synchronized from a single motion controller.

The internal power stage is fed from a nominal bus of 90 VDC. This low-voltage design reduces cabinet insulation requirements while still delivering 3 ARMS continuous to the motor. For short accelerations, it can supply 9 ARMS peak, enabling rapid position moves without saturation. The thermal design supports a sustained mechanical output of 250 W, and excess regenerative energy is dissipated through a resistor that can absorb up to 1.5 J per event. Current is switched by a PWM bridge operating at 31.2 kHz, which helps minimize audible noise and improves current-loop bandwidth. System bus loading remains limited by a peak draw of 10 ADC for three seconds, helping protect supplies from overcurrent.

Mechanical proportions support dense panel layouts. The housing is 48.3 mm wide, 100.8 mm deep, and 152.4 mm high, yet the unit weighs only 0.50 kg. Despite its size, the output stage tolerates motor inductances up to 30 mH, which gives flexibility when selecting windings with higher back-EMF constants. During brief load surges, the drive can deliver apparent power of 750 VA for one second, allowing an axis to overcome static friction or clear a jam without triggering faults. The drive also supports integrated SFD/Hall feedback processing and uses Micro-D SynqNet connectors.
