The PA2800 is a servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the S200 Servo Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency mains power into a controlled, pulse-width-modulated output for Kollmorgen brushless motors used on packaging lines, pick-and-place axes, and material-handling stages. By regulating current and velocity loops internally, the unit supplies responsive torque commands that allow a motion controller to position machinery with millisecond precision. Its compact footprint and pluggable connectors support installation in machine panels where available space and thermal capacity are limited.
The power stage accepts a nominal input of 230 VAC. When supplied by a single-phase source, the continuous input current reaches 14 A, while dynamic moves can draw up to 56 A. The single-phase input is rated at 6.4 kVA, and the three-phase input is rated at 11.2 kVA. The auxiliary supply circuit draws 28 A for the control electronics. Main conductors connect to terminals that accept 8 AWG or 6 mm² wire. The connector screws require a tightening torque of 0.25 N-m, whereas the protective ground lug requires 1.35 N-m.
On the motor side, the amplifier can deliver a continuous output of 2.4 kW during single-phase operation or up to 8.7 kW when supplied by a three-phase source. Excess energy produced during deceleration is initially handled by an internal resistor rated at 40 W. If the braking duty exceeds that limit, an external resistor array capable of absorbing 400 W can be connected to the dedicated regeneration terminals. The switching devices generate 130 W of heat, so the cabinet must provide enough airflow to keep the drive within its permitted ambient temperature range. A clearance of 63.5 mm above and below the housing is recommended to support convection. The cast housing weighs 6.51 kg, which must be considered when selecting panel studs or other mounting hardware.
