The Kollmorgen 502-03846-00R4 is a CSM / CPU module. It serves two functions in a PiC900 system: the conversion of AC to DC and program execution. It is a standard PiC900 model that is clocked at 8 Megahertz. The capacities of application memory, RAM and USER memory on the 502-03846-00R4 are 128 kilobytes, 64 kilobytes and 32 kilobytes. The module supports four different update rates: can serve 6 servo axes at 8 millisecond update rate, 4 servo axes at 4 millisecond update rate, 2 servo axes at 2 millisecond update rate and 1 servo axis at 1 millisecond update rate. The 502-03846-00R4 has a 3-pin connector for AC power input. The connector meets all specifications for touch safety in accordance with IEC 529 and DIN VDE 0470.
The 90 to 250 Volts AC input power is converted to DC and supplied to other modules in the system. The 502-03846-00R4 can supply 40 Watts output DC power. For individual outputs, the ratings are as follows: 0.5 Amps / -15 Volts, 2 Amps / 15 Volts and 5 Amps / 5 Volts. The 502-03846-00R4 module comes with a lithium battery for backup power. This battery has a capacity of 1.2 Ah and can supply 2 / 3 Amps at 3 Volts. The battery provides power for retaining memory when power to the 502-03846-00R4 module is disconnected. A PiCPro RS-232 serial port on the module can be used for interfacing with a workstation. A user RS-232 serial port on the module can be used for communicating with other devices that support serial communication. The recommended wire for serial communication is 24 / 26 AWG solid or 26 AWG stranded wire.
