Kollmorgen is a manufacturer of industrial automation products and motion control technology.

The PiC 900 industrial PC is capable of executing and monitoring a variety of position control tasks. This PC utilizes a combination of hardware and software systems to ensure seamless implementation of user defined applications. The required applications can be executed without connecting with the operator terminal or the computer workstation. The 502-03839-04 is a servo encoder module that comes with 3 fast inputs, 3 encoder input channels, 4 analog input channels, and 2 analog output channels. A 12 bit analog to digital converter within the system is able to sample each analog input channel in the sequence at the input scan rate. The values are then stored in the memory module so that it is possible to read any channel value while the analog to digital converter is monitoring another channel.

Each channel in the 502-03839-04 can be set up for a very low input sensitivity. This module converts a 16-bit digital input digital word into an 11 V analog output signal for each of the two channels. This model also converts an analog input signal into a 12-bit digital word for each of the four channels. This module is also used for counting pulses from up to three encoders. It also latches the counter value at a 24 VDC fast input event or an index. The maximum field-side power dissipation of this model is 7.4 W. It is provided with a DIAG LED that is turned off after the modules pass the diagnostic tests. The system should be used between ambient temperatures of 7 °C to 55 °C.
