The system allows users to control applications as per user requirements and specific applications. It utilizes a combination of software and hardware for this purpose. The PiC 900 has been designed for interacting with an operator interface device or a computer workstation. The required applications can be executed without the operator interface or the workstation. The 502-03814-60 is a CPU module with the larger Pic 900 system and executes the application program. This module contains a processor IC that provides overall control. RS232 ports are also provided that enable communication between the computer workstation and a user serial interface device.

The 502-03814-60 contains a PicPro port (9-Pin D connector) that communicates with the workstation serial port and a user port 2 (10-pin screw terminal connector) that communicates with an optional serial interface device. The PiCPro port in the CPU module allows the PiC900 industrial PC to communicate with the workstation. This port allows downloading an application program from the workstation into the RAM memory.
