The 502-03551-02 is a solid-state AC output module for the PIC900 Drives series produced by Kollmorgen. It installs on the series backplane and provides discrete power switching so drive controllers can actuate external relays, contactors, or pilot lamps in automated equipment. By converting low-level control signals into mains-rated outputs, the module bridges PLC or motion logic with field devices and allows coordinated machine sequencing.

The module is powered from an AC source nominally rated at 115 VAC, so it can switch standard North American mains loads without an external transformer. All field conductors land on a 25-pin card edge that is paralleled by screw terminals, allowing quick ribbon-cable connection as well as individual wires. A field-replaceable fuse of 3 A, 250 VAC in a 5 × 20 mm format protects the output circuits against sustained overcurrent. For signal integrity, the logic plane is isolated from the load side by 2830 VAC, limiting ground loops and transient propagation into the controller. Each energized output draws 23 mA at +5 V, while the board consumes only 1 mA when no points are active, so backplane power budgeting remains modest.

The card provides 16 outputs arranged as four groups of four solid-state switches. Within each group, the path resistance keeps the drop under 1.2 VAC at the specified 2 A continuous load, and the entire assembly can deliver that current simultaneously without exceeding its thermal rating. For brief inrush events such as magnetic coil energization, the outputs can withstand 20 A for 2 cycles of the mains sine wave. Switching speed is suited to AC loads, and both turn-on and turn-off occur in no more than 1/2 cycle, minimizing contactor chatter while still suppressing transients. Minimum load current is 50 mA to guarantee triac commutation, and off-state leakage stays below 6 mA at 240 VAC, preventing nuisance activation of sensitive devices.
