The PRD-PE205E00G-00 is a compact digital servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the PD Servostar Servo Drives series. Designed to regulate torque and velocity loops for low-to-medium-power brushless servo motors, the unit supplies controlled AC current to motion axes in packaging machines, pick-and-place gantries, and small process lines. Its purpose in industrial automation is to translate control commands into precise phase currents so the coupled motor follows position, speed, or force references set by the host controller.
The drive’s thermal and electrical section is designed for protected cabinet installation. A line-side fuse rated at 15 A protects upstream conductors, while the output stage provides a continuous phase current of 5 A rms and can deliver up to 10 A rms during acceleration. Current is modulated by pulse-width switching at 16 kHz; this high carrier frequency, combined with a form factor not exceeding 1.01, keeps torque ripple low. The logic electronics draw 0.6 A, and the DC link charges in 0.25 seconds with inrush current limited to 30 A. When powered from a 24 V supply, the drive consumes 0.144 kVA, increasing to 0.48 kVA with an 80 V input. A 32 kHz current ripple filter smooths phase energy and helps the motor meet acoustic targets.
An internal thermostat disables the output stage at 80 °C, while the bus monitoring circuit trips at voltages above 56 VDC or below 16 VDC. These thresholds protect the drive from excessive temperature, overvoltage, and undervoltage conditions that could disrupt controlled motion. The fault relay can switch up to 1 A, providing a dry contact that can shut down upstream control logic if any of these limits are reached. This relay also allows the host controller to detect a drive fault without relying solely on the motion command interface. The unit has a mass of 0.55 kg, which eases mounting on densely populated DIN rails. Its compact size also leaves more cabinet space available for wiring, protective devices, and nearby control components.
