The PRD-PB205S0H-10 is a compact servo drive produced by Kollmorgen for the PD Servostar Servo Drives series. It conditions low-voltage DC power and processes closed-loop feedback so that a matched servo motor can generate precise torque and velocity in automated machinery. The unit interfaces with a sine encoder and supplies regulated excitation current to the sensor, making it suitable for point-to-point positioning tasks and small gantry axes.
The power stage operates from a bus of 24 VDC, drawing up to 6 A continuously while delivering a steady motor phase output of 5 A rms. For rapid acceleration, it can supply up to 10 A rms during short duty cycles before reaching its thermal limits. Pulse-width modulation occurs at 16 kHz, which minimizes audible noise and reduces current ripple at the motor terminals. An internal ripple frequency of 32 kHz further smooths the motor current. The unit charges its DC link in 0.25 seconds, allowing operation to resume quickly after the DC supply is restored. The logic electronics draw 0.6 A, conserving available power for connected control devices and sensor networks. The encoder port provides 5 VDC at 250 mA to energize the feedback transducer and support consistent position measurements.
Protective circuitry trips if the DC rail exceeds 56 VDC or if the heat sink reaches 80 °C, helping prevent component stress during regeneration or excessive thermal loading. A front-end line fuse rated at 15 A protects the drive against surge events up to 30 A and clears electrical faults before they damage printed circuit traces. Undervoltage detection at 16 VDC disables the drive during brownout conditions, allowing the control logic to stop the motor in a controlled manner and preserve position data. These protection functions isolate the power stage when voltage or temperature conditions move outside the drive’s permitted operating range.
