The PRD-AMPE25Ez-03 servo drive is produced by Kollmorgen as part of the PD Servostar Servo Drives series. It converts DC-bus energy into regulated three-phase output current for controlling brushless servomotors in compact machines, laboratory automation, and light material-handling systems. Precise phase-current control helps maintain linear torque delivery and accurate positioning during closed-loop motion tasks. The drive can support applications that require controlled speed, torque, and position without occupying excessive cabinet space.
The drive supplies a continuous phase current of 5 A RMS per phase, supporting sustained motor torque without excessive thermal loading. During rapid acceleration, it provides a peak current of 10 A RMS per phase for 0.25 seconds, allowing short bursts of additional torque. Pulse-width modulation operates at 16 kHz, which helps reduce audible switching noise. The motor current ripple frequency is 32 kHz, supporting smooth commutation and stable current regulation. A rated output power of 120 W is delivered from a nominal 24 VDC bus, while the drive draws approximately 128 W of input power under nominal load. The drive also tolerates a 30 A soft-start surge when power is applied. Its logic section uses a 0.6 A supply from the same 24 VDC auxiliary rail, reducing the number of separate power connections required inside the cabinet.
The housing measures 140 × 108 × 51 mm, allowing multiple drives to be installed in control cabinets with limited available space. Thermal monitoring disables the output at 80 °C to protect the power stage and connected motion system from excessive heat. Voltage supervision trips when the supply rises above 56 VDC, preventing overvoltage from damaging internal components. Undervoltage protection activates when the supply falls below 16 VDC, avoiding unstable operation when the available bus voltage is insufficient. The logic circuitry and power stage share one supply rail, which simplifies field wiring and power distribution. After a protective voltage event clears and internal energy returns to an acceptable level, the controller can resume pulse-width modulation and normal motor operation.
