The PE210560 is a servo drive from Kollmorgen that belongs to the PD Servostar Servo Drives series. It interfaces between a low-voltage DC supply and a brushless servo motor, shaping current with high-frequency switching so that industrial controllers can command precise torque, velocity, and position. By regulating motor current while monitoring supply conditions, the unit supports compact automation axes where 24 V DC power is preferred over higher-voltage bus systems.
Under continuous duty, the drive delivers 12 A from a 24 V rail, which corresponds to a phase output of 10 Arms. The electronics provide a sustained apparent output power of 0.26 kVA while drawing 0.288 kVA from the source, so the thermal design must accommodate the resulting dissipation. A switching network controls current ripple at 32 kHz, while the separate output bridge modulates the motor phases at 16 kHz, keeping audible noise low and minimizing torque ripple. Continuous operation is protected by an overcurrent loop, and a fault relay rated at 1 A can signal upstream safety devices when limits are exceeded. Logic inputs can sink 0.6 A, allowing the drive to accept direct sensor connections without additional relays. A maximum capacitor charge time of 0.25 seconds reduces startup delays.
Protective functions govern abnormal or peak operating conditions. The main supply line is protected by a 30 A fuse, and a soft-start circuit limits inrush to the same magnitude during initial energization. For transient torque commands, the power stage can supply 25 A, equal to 20 Arms on the output side, before the timed peak limit intervenes. Thermal monitoring trips the drive at 80 °C, while a DC-link monitor disconnects it at 56 VDC and allows operation to resume after the voltage rises above the 16 VDC undervoltage threshold.
