The PB810561 is a DC-bus servo drive from Kollmorgen’s PD Servostar Servo Drives series. It is designed to regulate current and velocity for permanent-magnet servo motors in automated machinery, providing closed-loop control through its integrated power stage and communication interface. Within an automation cell, the drive accepts commands from a motion controller, modulates its output, and returns status so that positioning, tensioning, or speed profiles remain consistent under changing loads.
The power section delivers a continuous phase current of 10 Arms and can rise momentarily to 20 Arms during acceleration. Both values are referenced to a nominal DC bus of 80 VDC, allowing the module to be paired with low-voltage supplies or battery systems. Switching devices operate at a carrier frequency of 16 kHz, which reduces motor acoustic noise and improves torque resolution. Real-time commands are exchanged over the optical SERCOS FO link, and telegrams refresh every 2 ms so position loops remain tightly synchronized with upstream controllers. Current regulation is available 0.25 seconds after power-up, matching the stated charge time. A sine encoder channel supplies high-resolution feedback for precise commutation.
Field wiring is supported by 3 digital inputs and 1 digital output for functions such as limit sensing, drive enable, and fault forwarding. Control electronics draw 24 VDC from a separate logic supply and require no more than 0.6 A, minimizing the load on cabinet power buses. During fault conditions, the output stage can absorb up to 30 A of surge current, and the dry contact is rated for 1 A to activate external alarms.
