In automated machinery, the unit sits between the PLC-level controller and the motor, regulating current, monitoring feedback, and protecting the axis during dynamic production cycles.
The drive accepts a three-phase input of 190–230 VAC, which is internally rectified to a DC bus maintained between 270–320 VDC. This bus acts as the energy reservoir for the pulse-width-modulated outputs. The drive can deliver continuous mechanical power of 3.6 kW when the output current remains at the rated 10 A RMS per phase. For rapid acceleration or disturbance rejection, the current regulator allows peaks of up to 20 A RMS per phase for the permitted interval. An overvoltage trip engages at 430 VDC to protect internal components from excessive DC-bus voltage. These electrical limits support drive selection based on motor torque constants and line regeneration levels.
The front-panel interface communicates with a Delta Tau PMAC2 controller through a 36-pin Mini-D connector, and current feedback is transferred as serial digital information for the U and V phases. The enclosure measures 264 × 90 × 202 mm, so the cabinet must provide sufficient room for airflow around the heat sink.
