The 0190-A2450 is a compact servo drive produced by Kollmorgen and delivered through the PD Servostar Servo Drives series. Designed for panel installation, the unit converts a low-voltage DC supply into controlled polyphase AC for positioning and speed regulation of brushless servo motors used in packaging machines, pick-and-place axes, and other automated equipment. By processing command signals from a motion controller, it closes current, velocity, and position loops internally, reducing the burden on external controls.
The drive accepts a supply of 24 VDC and draws up to 6 A, corresponding to an internal consumption of 144 VA when all power stages are active. Its current loop is updated at 16 kHz, while the velocity regulator executes at 4 kHz; these high sample rates support smooth torque production during rapid acceleration. A differential ±10 V analog interface transfers command and feedback voltages to the host controller. Three optically isolated digital inputs and one digital output accommodate discrete enable, fault, and home signals. The velocity path maintains a bandwidth of 400 Hz, enabling precise speed control for direct-drive mechanisms. The phase output can deliver 5 A RMS to the motor windings, and an integral sine encoder port retransmits position data for synchronized multi-axis operation.
The position regulator is updated at 2 kHz and works with encoder retransmission rates of up to 3 MHz to minimize following error during high-resolution movements. With an output capacity of 130 VA, the inverter section can energize medium-frame servo motors without overheating, while the enclosure measures only 140 × 108 × 51 mm to support dense cabinet layouts. A 14-bit converter digitizes analog commands so the internal digital signal processor can coordinate current, velocity, and position tasks while minimizing quantization artifacts. This processing architecture supports smooth point-to-point profiles and low-jitter continuous contouring without requiring separate external loop controllers.
