The P70360-SDN is a single-axis model built by Kollmorgen within the P7000 Stepper Drives series. It conditions step-and-direction signals from a motion controller and delivers phase current to two-phase hybrid stepper motors, turning digital position commands into precise rotor movement. In automated indexers, small conveyors, and laboratory dispensers, the drive improves low-speed smoothness through microstepping while keeping wiring and setup straightforward thanks to its panel-mount enclosure. Its compact frame allows tight placement in multi-axis control cabinets common to packaging, semiconductor, or life-science equipment.

The drive supplies a continuous phase current of 2.5 ARMS; this is the level it can maintain indefinitely without exceeding internal temperature limits. During acceleration it can increase to a peak of 3.5 ARMS, permitting extra torque to overcome inertial loads. Output energy is capped at 350 W, helping users match motor resistance and inductance to the drive’s power electronics. A 7 A slow-blow fuse is recommended on the DC supply so brief inrush events pass without nuisance tripping while faults remain isolated. Firmware initiates a controlled shutdown when the heat sink reaches 70 °C; this threshold prevents component damage if ambient temperature rises or airflow is obstructed.

Mechanical envelope data aids enclosure layout. The unit stands 170.18 mm tall, has a face width of 52.324 mm, and projects 144.78 mm from the mounting surface, so multiple drives can be lined up on standard DIN rails without colliding with shallow cabinet doors. These proportions also maintain clear air paths around the fins that dissipate the currents described above. Because Kollmorgen targets modular installations, removable terminal plugs and front-mounted status LEDs remain accessible even when drives are stacked closely, simplifying service tasks such as fuse replacement, temperature checks, and motor current tuning.
