Product Description:
The M.1300.3488 is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the NSM Brushless Servo Motors series. The unit converts commanded phase currents into precise shaft rotation for pick-and-place heads, vertical actuators, and carton formers. It serves as the primary rotary actuator wherever repeatable speed, rapid indexing, and tight positional accuracy are required in industrial automation.
The motor supplies a continuous mechanical output of 2.5 Nm, which is the load it can sustain indefinitely without exceeding its thermal limits. For short acceleration bursts, it reaches 7.1 Nm, providing extra torque to overcome inertia or friction during starts and reversals. The electromagnetic conversion factor is set by a 0.28 Nm/A torque constant, so approximately 9 A of phase current generates the continuous torque. When the shaft turns, the internal windings develop a back electromotive force of 34 V/kRPM; the drive electronics use this proportional relationship to support vector control and speed monitoring. Current ripple is moderated by a 2.9 mH phase inductance, which works with the 0.77 Ω winding resistance to establish electrical time constants and copper losses on the 230 V supply.
Dynamic response is aided by a low 0.00035 kg-m² rotor inertia, allowing the axis to reach its commanded speed quickly and settle with minimal overshoot. A 24 VDC spring-applied brake holds the shaft whenever power is removed, preventing drift in vertical or safety-critical stations. Position feedback is provided by a 2000-line incremental encoder that uses a 26LS31 line driver, operates from a 5 VDC rail, and draws up to 300 mA. The output interface is a steel shaft with a diameter of 16 mm, and it extends 25 mm beyond the front face. This shaft can connect directly to pulleys, timing belts, or precision couplings without requiring additional adapters.
