The M.1300.3486 servo motor is produced by Kollmorgen and belongs to the NSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for precision motion in automated assemblies, it combines a permanent-magnet rotor with electronic commutation to provide repeatable torque while eliminating brush wear. Integrated brake and encoder connections allow the unit to hold its position and return absolute position feedback to the drive, making it suitable for pick-and-place gantries, small indexing tables, and laboratory equipment where compact size and low rotor inertia are important.
At the electrical interface, the motor windings are rated for a 230 VAC drive supply, while the encoder electronics draw 5 VDC. Continuous mechanical output reaches 0.2 Nm, and momentary acceleration demands can be met with a peak torque of 0.5 Nm. Torque rises in proportion to phase current with a constant of 0.08 Nm/A, and frictional drag is limited to 0.012 Nm so closed-loop regulation remains responsive. The copper phase set has a resistance of 3.18 Ω and an inductance of 4.1 mH. These electrical values influence current ripple and affect the PWM frequency required from the amplifier. Back EMF is generated at 10 V per 1000 rpm, allowing the controller to estimate speed without an additional speed sensor.
Mechanical mounting uses an IEC front face with a bolt circle of 66.67 mm and 5.2 mm through holes for cap screws. The overall housing length, including the spring-applied and electrically released brake, is 161.3 mm, and the brake coil is energized at 24 VDC to release the shaft during motion. The rotor’s mass moment of inertia is only 0.000009 kg·m², permitting rapid start-and-stop cycles with minimal drive overshoot. The bearings support a radial load of 7 kg at 1000 rpm and a load of 2.26 kg at the shaft shoulder, promoting consistent bearing life when pulleys or gears are mounted on the 6 mm shaft.
