The MTC502B2-R1C1 is a brushless AC servo motor engineered by Kollmorgen within the MTC Servo Motors series. It serves as the prime mover in automated pick-and-place modules, indexing tables, and other closed-loop axes where accurate torque and rapid positioning are required. By combining a low-cogging stator with an electromagnetic brake, the motor lets machinery hold or release loads under drive control without external clamping hardware, which simplifies machine design in industrial automation. This arrangement also supports repeatable starts, stops, and dwell periods on axes that must stay in position between motion cycles.

The motor is rated for 230 VAC operation through a matched amplifier, allowing it to run from standard plant power. The brake operates on 24 VDC and draws 0.30 A DC; when control power is removed, it engages to lock the shaft at speeds up to 6000 RPM. It provides a holding torque of 19.5 N-m, and the permanent-magnet rotor has maximum inertia to help damp load fluctuations. The stator uses a 130 mm frame size, and the right-angle rotatable connector allows cable exit in any quadrant. Motion feedback is supplied by a single-speed resolver, which provides analog position signals throughout the full rotation. Because the feedback signal is continuous, it supports stable commutation and position monitoring during closed-loop operation.

The housing has an IP65 rating, which keeps dust and low-pressure water jets away from the internal windings. For compact machines, the short stack length and total body reach of 218.8 mm help reduce installation depth where rear clearance is limited. The keyed shaft supports direct coupling, and the resolver lead can be routed with the motor cable in compact machine layouts.
