The MT502B1-F3B1 is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the MTC Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop industrial automation, the unit converts three-phase drive current into precisely regulated torque and speed, enabling coordinated motion in packaging, material handling, and positioning axes. Its electromechanical construction supports continuous duty in ambient temperatures up to 40 °C while maintaining accurate feedback for the drive controller.
At 40 °C, the motor can deliver a continuous stall torque of 3.6 N·m, which requires a continuous line current of 5.5 A RMS from the drive. The phase inductance of 15.5 mH limits current rise time and helps smooth pulse-width-modulated drive outputs. A back electromotive force constant of 39.5 VRMS/kRPM provides predictable voltage generation for the controller’s velocity loop, while a phase resistance of 3.46 Ω determines copper losses during steady operation. An 8192 ppr incremental encoder provides the feedback resolution needed for precise low-speed holding and controlled acceleration. These electrical characteristics allow the drive to regulate current and velocity across the motor’s operating range.
For dynamic moves, the drive may command a peak torque of up to 10.1 N·m and a momentary phase current of up to 20.4 A RMS. The motor provides a rated mechanical output of 1.1 kW at 3300 rpm, giving the axis additional capacity for quick indexing cycles. A rotor inertia of 0.00051 kg·m² balances rapid acceleration with speed stability, and the 130 mm square frame fits standard IEC mounting patterns. A shaft seal protects the shaft end from contaminants.
