The MT304A1-R1C1 is a brushless servo motor built by Kollmorgen within the MTC Servo Motors series. In industrial automation, the unit supplies closed-loop shaft torque and velocity so that positioning tables, feeders, or small conveyors can be driven without belts or gear backlash. Its stator windings interact with an eight-pole rotor to produce synchronized rotation, and the compact frame lets machine designers fit the motor into tight equipment spaces while connecting it directly to a matched digital drive. When paired with a Kollmorgen amplifier, feedback from an external sensor provides the precise motion required for pick-and-place or indexing stages.
At a housing temperature of 40 °C, the motor can deliver a continuous stall torque of 2.52 N-m while drawing a steady phase current of 2.59 A RMS. Torque increases nearly linearly with current because of a sensitivity of 0.985 N-m/A RMS, allowing the drive to adjust force precisely for low-speed holding. For rapid indexing, the controller may command up to 10.0 A RMS momentarily, producing a peak torque of 7.40 N-m to overcome inertial loads. Torque output remains stable at the rated speed of 3000 rpm without exceeding thermal limits. An eight-pole rotor supports smooth low-speed operation, and the aluminum housing has a thermal resistance of 0.828 °C/W to transfer heat to the mounting flange.
The three-phase stator has a line-to-line inductance of 58 mH and a resistance of 7.93 Ω, which affect current rise times and copper losses in the drive. The generated back electromotive force is 59.6 V RMS/krpm, so the controller must supply up to the rated bus voltage of 250 V RMS as the shaft approaches its rated speed. Mechanical output reaches 0.70 kW at the nominal operating point. A rotor inertia of 0.0000808 kg-m² helps keep position loops responsive and stable. The thermal time constant is 25 minutes, allowing moderate duty cycling before internal temperatures stabilize, while the 3.3 kg frame mass supports installation on lightweight motion axes.
