The MSM215-407-304-M-2KA is a brushless servo motor from Kollmorgen in the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. It converts drive-generated three-phase power into controlled rotary motion for indexing tables, gantries, and packaging axes that require rapid acceleration and repeatable positioning. An internal permanent-magnet rotor works with multi-turn, high-resolution feedback so the paired amplifier can maintain absolute position and execute smooth electronic commutation. This feedback arrangement also allows the control system to monitor rotor position after power cycles without requiring the axis to complete a new homing sequence.
The unit sustains a continuous shaft torque of 46 Nm at its rated speed of 3000 rpm. Its torque constant is 1.4 Nm/A, providing a proportional relationship between commanded phase current and developed torque. The back EMF constant is 170 V/krpm, which the controller uses when regulating motor voltage and speed through field-oriented vector control.
