The MSM215-407-304-E2-2KA is a brushless servo motor built by Kollmorgen for the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop motion axes, this motor converts drive commands into precise shaft rotation for positioning, conveying, or tension-control duties in industrial automation. A factory-installed electromagnetic brake holds the load when power is removed, and a six-pole rotor allows synchronous operation with the matched drive.
Under continuous load, the stator delivers 46 Nm of torque, while the thermal design allows the motor to deliver up to 128 Nm briefly during acceleration. To reach these torque levels, the inverter can supply up to 117.4 A peak, while locked-rotor operation requires 36.6 A peak because the winding resistance limits the current rise. Nominal motion is maintained at 3000 rpm, a speed that supports common 1:1 gearless couplings. The motor has an overall length of 405 mm from the mounting face, a keyed shaft ending in an M12 × 1.75 thread, and a net mass of 43 kg with the holding brake installed. Rotor inertia with the brake installed is 0.0171 kg·m², supporting a stable servo response during rapid changes in speed or direction.
