The MSM215-304-S-OKA is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen and assigned to the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Within multi-axis machines, it generates precise torque and velocity so that drive controllers can position loads accurately along coordinated paths. Its built-in single-turn encoder feeds absolute position back to the drive, making the unit suitable for indexing tables, pick-and-place axes, and similar automation tasks that require deterministic motion control. This feedback arrangement also lets the axis recover position information immediately after startup without relying on a separate reference routine for every cycle.

The housing bolts to a mounting plate on a 180 mm bolt circle, while a square flange measuring 190 mm across sets the overall face size for connection to couplings or gearboxes. The motor uses Sin/Cos feedback, and the encoder is a single-turn high-resolution device, allowing the controller to resolve small angular changes without multi-turn tracking. A maximum radial load of 101 kg can be applied at 3000 rpm, so belt drives or pinions can be fitted without exceeding bearing capacity. The face also has four 13 mm diameter mount holes for through-bolts, and the sinusoidal feedback connector extends the overall length by 21 mm. A 10 mm wide and 7 mm deep keyway keeps pulleys or couplings from slipping under bidirectional torque.

The shaft has an outside diameter of 32 mm, providing enough surface for rigid clamp hubs, and the active length from the face is 58 mm, leaving room for spacer washers or safety guards. A threaded tip cut to M12 x 1.75 mm and extending to a depth of 28 mm accepts a central draw bolt that locks mounted components against the shoulder. For strength, the shaft is machined from ST-60 steel so it resists torsional stress during rapid acceleration while still allowing standard key-seated tooling to be broached. This shaft format supports secure mechanical transmission when the motor is used in applications with frequent starts, reversals, and short dwell periods.
