The MSM165-146-304-S-2KA is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop drive systems, the unit delivers programmable angular motion to conveyor sections, pick-and-place heads, and other automated machinery. Its onboard, single-turn, high-resolution feedback communicates the absolute rotor position to a compatible drive, enabling precise velocity and torque regulation throughout each machine cycle. This feedback also allows the drive to determine the shaft position immediately after startup without completing a separate homing sequence.
At a bus voltage of 460 V, the motor supplies a continuous shaft torque of 16.5 Nm while sustaining a rated speed of 3000 rpm. These operating values allow the drive to maintain steady mechanical output while keeping the motor within its continuous thermal limits. A peak current of 52.3 A is the maximum transient demand that the inverter must be able to supply during rapid acceleration. The motor has a phase inductance of 18.5 mH and a phase resistance of 1.56 ohms; these electrical properties affect current ripple, response time, and copper loss during sinusoidal commutation.
