Product Description:
The MSM115-89-404-M-2KA is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen and supplied under the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. As a closed-loop actuator, the unit converts drive current into repeatable rotary motion for indexing tables, pick-and-place arms, and other industrial automation axes where precise speed and position control are required. It delivers a continuous shaft torque of 10 Nm, allowing steady operation under rated thermal conditions and providing consistent output for applications with sustained mechanical loads.
For short acceleration bursts, the electromagnetic stack produces up to 32 Nm. Nominal operation occurs at 4000 rpm, a speed that suits medium-inertia mechanisms without gear reduction. Drive electronics may supply as much as 38.2 A peak during transients, while routine current draw is limited by a stall value of 10.9 A peak. A torque constant of 1.03 Nm/A links commanded current to output torque, simplifying current-mode control loops. The windings are energized from a 460 V supply, and the integrated brake uses a 24 VDC coil. Radial load capacity reaches 48 kg at maximum speed, allowing the bearings to support substantial belt loads. This capacity must be considered alongside pulley position and shaft loading when the motor is installed in a belt-driven axis.
A back-EMF value of 123 V/krpm supports voltage calculations for regenerative braking. Coil impedance results from an inductance of 12.0 mH and a resistance of 2.0 ohms, giving the motor a time constant suited to high-bandwidth current loops. With the integrated brake installed, the assembly weighs 12.1 kg and has a rotor inertia of 0.00193 kg·m², balancing rapid acceleration with load stability. The front flange includes M6 × 1.0 mm threaded mounting holes with a depth of 16 mm for direct attachment to gearheads or machine frames. These threaded holes permit secure flange attachment without requiring separate through-bolts at the motor face.
