Product Description:
The MSM115-89-402-M-0KA servo motor is produced by Kollmorgen within the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. It is a compact permanent-magnet actuator intended for precise position and speed control in automated packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and other motion axes that require dynamic torque delivery. When integrated with a Kollmorgen drive, the unit converts three-phase AC power into controlled mechanical rotation, allowing PLCs to execute tightly synchronized moves without mechanical clutches or cams. Its frame and mounting pattern conform to the series footprint, giving machine builders a consistent mechanical interface across multiple power ratings.
It delivers a continuous torque of 89 in-lb, allowing gear trains to be sized for medium-inertia loads. The motor uses three-phase windings, and the rotor can reach its rated speed of 4000 rpm without losing synchronous stability. A keyed shaft transfers torque directly, while the end thread is M6 × 1.0 mm with a depth of 16 mm for clamp-style couplings. A radial load of up to 48 kg may be applied at the rated speed, allowing belt tension to remain within the bearing limits. The feedback connector has 17 pins that carry differential signal pairs. The drive reads a Sin/Cos encoder signal for smooth vector control. The motor is supplied without an integrated brake, so an external holding device must support a vertical axis when power is removed.
The internal position sensor provides multi-turn, high-resolution feedback, so the absolute shaft angle is retained across multiple revolutions after a power cycle. The ambient air temperature must remain at or below 40 °C, and the case surface may reach 125 °C under worst-case loading. The motor withstands relative humidity of up to 95% without condensation, supporting installation near washdown areas or humid processes. These operating limits assist with enclosure ventilation and seal selection, while the keyed shaft and threaded end support secure mechanical coupling. Appropriate airflow around the housing helps prevent excessive heat accumulation during sustained operation.
