Product Description:
Kollmorgen manufactures the MSM115-62-404-S-2KA servo motor for the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. The motor delivers closed-loop rotational power to machine axes, allowing a compatible drive to regulate position, speed, and torque precisely. It is suitable for automated assembly cells, packaging lines, and material-handling systems that use coordinated motion. The brushless design supports electronic commutation, while integrated feedback provides the rotor position information needed for controlled acceleration and accurate stopping.
The stator is wound for 460 V operation and has a winding impedance of 3.4 Ω. Its inductance is 16.8 mH, providing predictable current rise times for the connected drive. At rated excitation, the rotor reaches 4000 rpm and produces 7 Nm of continuous torque while remaining within its thermal limits. For rapid indexing moves, the electromagnetic assembly can produce 22 Nm of momentary torque and accept up to 26.9 A of peak phase current before saturation. The six-pole configuration works with a single-turn sine-cosine encoder to support smooth sinusoidal commutation and precise position feedback throughout one mechanical revolution. A torque constant of 0.99 Nm/A and a back electromotive force coefficient of 120 V/krpm support stable velocity control during changing loads.
The laminated rotor, brake, and shaft have a combined inertia of 0.00138 kg·m², supporting responsive acceleration and reversal profiles. The listed stall-condition peak current is 7.8 A, which must remain within the capability of the selected servo amplifier. The motor has a total installed mass of 9.6 kg, and its integral fail-safe brake operates at 24 VDC to hold the axis when power is removed. The metric output shaft includes an M6 × 1.0 mm axial thread for secure attachment to compatible couplings or puller tools. Its housing accommodates the embedded brake without changing the standard flange dimensions, allowing the motor to retain its intended mounting interface. The brake supports controlled load retention during power loss, while the threaded shaft interface assists with secure mechanical installation in applications involving repeated stops and rapid direction changes.
