The MSM115-34-404-S-2KA is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen as part of the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for precision positioning and velocity control, the unit converts drive commands into rapid, repeatable rotation for industrial robots, indexing tables, and packaging equipment. Its compact frame simplifies installation in automated cells that demand consistent torque and high responsiveness.
At nominal conditions, the motor generates a continuous torque of 3.8 Nm, allowing stable drive control without thermal derating. This torque is delivered while the shaft turns at a rated speed of 4000 rpm, a range suited to moderate-inertia loads. The three-phase winding is intended for a line-to-line supply of 460 VAC. When driven by a matched amplifier, the motor can accept up to 15.6 A peak during acceleration. Electrical conversion efficiency is supported by a torque constant of 0.95 Nm/A, so nearly one newton-meter is produced for each ampere of phase current. A stall current of 4.5 A peak establishes the steady thermal limit, while a winding resistance of 8.4 Ω and single-turn sine-cosine feedback enable precise current regulation. Six magnetic poles and a voltage constant of 115 V/krpm complete the electromagnetic design.
During short duty bursts, the motor can reach a peak torque of 12 Nm, providing extra capacity for rapid indexing or overcoming static friction. The integrated holding brake operates with 24 VDC and secures the load when motor power is removed. Mechanical responsiveness is aided by a rotor inertia of 0.00093 kg·m² with the brake fitted, limiting overshoot during high-gain moves. The phase windings have an inductance of 32.0 mH, which balances current ripple with servo bandwidth requirements. The motor has an overall mass of 7.7 kg. Its output shaft provides an M6 × 1.0 threaded end for attaching couplings or pulleys.
