The MSM115-34-404-M-2KA servo motor is produced by Kollmorgen and belongs to the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. As a permanent-magnet, brushless AC actuator, it converts electrical energy from a matched drive into tightly regulated shaft motion for accurate positioning and speed control. The motor is intended for industrial automation tasks such as indexing tables, gantry axes, and packaging machinery where repeatable torque delivery and responsive acceleration are required.
The electromagnetic section is designed to operate from a 460 V DC bus, allowing the drive system to use rectified power from common three-phase mains without an intermediate transformer. Under continuous duty, the stator can sustain 3.8 Nm of torque while remaining within its rated thermal limits, and the motor can reach 4000 rpm when commanded by the controller. Short bursts permit a peak shaft torque of 12 Nm, providing additional capacity for rapid starts or process disturbances. With a torque constant of 0.95 Nm/A, the motor develops almost one newton-meter for every ampere of phase current, simplifying current-loop tuning and torque prediction. The maximum phase current is 15.6 A peak, while the stall current is 4.5 A peak.
