Product Description:
The MSM115-34-404-M-0KA is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed as a compact rotary actuator for positioning and velocity control in automated machinery, the unit converts drive current into precise shaft motion for pick-and-place heads, packaging axes, and gantries. Encoder-ready mounting surfaces and a continuous-duty thermal design allow the motor to operate in enclosed cabinets or on open frames, providing a standard platform for medium-torque applications across multi-axis systems.
The motor develops a continuous shaft torque of 3.8 Nm when supplied by a three-phase bus at 460 V. At the rated speed of 4,000 rpm, this torque provides stable mechanical power for continuous operation. The torque constant of 0.95 Nm/A relates the commanded current to the resulting output torque, while the stall current is limited to 4.5 A peak. A six-pole rotor and a voltage constant of 115 V/krpm establish the back electromotive force at higher speeds. The motor has a phase inductance of 32.0 mH and a phase resistance of 8.4 Ω, which affect current-loop response and winding heat. Its rotor inertia of 0.00057 kg·m² supports quick acceleration without requiring excessive drive gain.
The motor has a mass of 6.6 kg, providing thermal capacity to absorb short operating transients without auxiliary cooling. Peak overload torque reaches 12 Nm, and the drive can supply up to 15.6 A peak for brief acceleration periods. An ST-60 steel shaft transmits torque through its keyed end, providing positive engagement with pulleys or flexible couplings. The shaft is retained by an internal thread measuring M6 × 1.0 mm, with a usable thread depth of 16 mm for secure attachment. Its compact frame and low rotor inertia support rapid indexing movements in medium-torque automated axes.
