Product Description:
The MSM115-34-402-S-2KA brushless servo motor is produced by Kollmorgen for the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. It is a rotary actuator that supplies controlled torque and speed to medium-capacity axes in automated packaging, electronics, and light material-handling equipment. Permanent-magnet excitation, integrated feedback, and provisions for a DC-operated holding brake are combined in one housing, so machine builders can create compact drive trains without external add-ons.
The motor runs from a rated supply of 200 V and produces 34 in-lb of continuous torque while sustaining a shaft speed of 4000 rpm. An optional brake coil accepts 24 V DC, allowing the load to remain fixed during power loss or while the motor is stopped. Rotor position is measured by a sine/cosine encoder that delivers high-resolution, single-turn feedback. These analog tracks are digitized and communicated to the drive over a differential RS-485 link, minimizing signal degradation on long cable runs. The combination of voltage, speed, and feedback bandwidth allows controllers to achieve rapid positioning cycles without exceeding thermal limits.
A square frame that measures 115 mm across matches standard IEC motor mounts, and the keyed shaft ensures positive coupling to pulleys or gearboxes. The bearings can tolerate a radial load of 48 kg at the rated speed, so belt tension can be applied without shortening service life. The surface temperature must remain below 125 °C; built-in sensors allow the drive to reduce output before this limit is reached. All feedback signals pass through a single 17-pin circular connector, simplifying installation and cable routing. The front flange offers M6 × 1.0 mm tapped holes with a thread depth of 16 mm, providing ample engagement for mounting bolts while resisting loosening during high-frequency indexing.
