Internal Product Review
The MSM115-34-402-S-0KA is a Kollmorgen brushless servo motor with a 34 in-lb torque rating and a 4000 rpm rated speed. A single-turn high-resolution encoder with Sin/Cos signal format gives the motor very clean feedback for precise motion control. Keyway shaft construction and zero allowed axial load make the unit especially well suited for properly aligned servo assemblies.

Product Description:
The MSM115-34-402-S-0KA is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. In automated machinery, it provides precise shaft rotation when paired with a digital servo drive, delivering commanded motion profiles for pick-and-place gantries, indexing tables, and other position-controlled axes. The motor does not have a holding brake, so vertical axes require an external clamp when position must be retained after power is removed.
This model delivers a continuous torque of 34 in-lb, providing a predictable margin for steady-state loads. Its rated speed is 4000 rpm, allowing rapid cycle times without exceeding the permitted rotor speed. Bearing life is protected by a maximum permissible radial load of 48 kg at the rated speed, while the permitted axial load is zero, so thrust must be absorbed externally. The mounting face has a 115 mm bolt-hole circle, and the motor has a keyed shaft that transmits torque without slipping. Electrical and feedback connections pass through a 17-pin hybrid connector. The signal portion of this interface carries analog feedback signals, while the power portion supplies phase current to the motor. The presence of 17 connector pins simplifies wiring by combining motor power, Hall signals, feedback connections, and protective grounding in a single molded plug.
Rotor position is measured by a single-turn high-resolution encoder that emits a sinusoidal signal pair. The shaft end has an M6 × 1.0 mm thread with a 16 mm depth for coupling pullers or test fixtures. The feedback system complies with the SRS 50 interface, allowing compatible Kollmorgen drives to read the absolute shaft angle without an additional adapter. The permissible winding surface temperature is 125 °C, so airflow around the motor must keep the stator below this limit during continuous operation. The additional length associated with the sin/cos feedback system is 0 mm, so the encoder does not increase the stated motor length.
