The MSM115-34-402-M-2KA is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen for the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Intended for closed-loop axes in automated machinery, it converts drive current into precisely regulated rotary motion so pick-and-place heads, packaging mandrels, or positioning tables can follow programmed trajectories. This frame length and winding combination is intended for medium-inertia loads that require fast acceleration and continuous operation across a broad speed range.
The unit is equipped with a holding brake that locks the shaft whenever power is removed; its coil operates from 24 V DC, allowing control through standard safety relays. Position data exits through a 17-pin feedback connector, and the encoder supplies multi-turn, high-resolution absolute position information, maintaining the origin over multiple revolutions after a power cycle. With a feedback length addition of 0 mm, the encoder remains flush with the rear housing, keeping the installation depth to a minimum. A machined keyway on the shaft provides slip-free torque transfer to couplings. During continuous operation, the rotor reaches 4000 rpm without thermal derating, making the motor suitable for indexers or conveyor drives that require constant high speed.
The bearings accept a radial load of 48 kg at rated speed, allowing belts or spur gears to be tensioned without shortening bearing life. Continuous output torque is 34 in-lb, providing predictable acceleration for moderate-inertia payloads. The shaft is made from ST-60 steel and has a threaded center hole measuring M6 × 1.0 mm with a depth of 16 mm for puller bolts or locking hardware. The external case temperature may reach 125 °C during peak loading. Enclosure airflow or heat sinking should be evaluated when the motor is installed in a confined space.
