Product Description:
The MSM115-34-402-E2-2KA is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. It is intended for compact positioning axes where accurate torque and speed control must be coupled with fast response in automated packaging, assembly, and semiconductor equipment. A permanent-magnet rotor, an integral incremental encoder, and a factory-mounted holding brake place the motor, feedback, and holding functions in one housing, reducing panel space and field wiring. The integrated design also limits the number of separate components that must be mounted around the machine axis.
The motor develops a continuous torque of 34 in-lb while operating at a rated speed of 4000 rpm, allowing motion controllers to maintain high cycle rates without exceeding thermal limits. A brake coil rated at 24 VDC holds the shaft at standstill, preventing load drift on vertical axes. Rotor position is returned through an incremental encoder that provides 2000 lines of resolution and receives power from the drive’s 5 VDC sensor rail. Three stator windings provide three output phases, producing a sinusoidal magnetic field that minimizes cogging during controlled rotation. The motor also has an M6 × 1.0 mm keyed shaft that supports positive torque transfer through compatible couplings and gearheads.
The motor supports a radial load of 48 kg at the front bearing while the shaft operates at rated speed, allowing it to carry moderate belt tension without external supports. Its winding insulation permits a maximum case temperature of 125 °C, providing thermal headroom for operation inside enclosed machinery. A 17-pin feedback connector routes encoder signals and brake power through one cable, simplifying installation in applications with moving cable carriers. The threaded shaft end accepts an M6 bolt to a depth of 16 mm, enabling pulleys or couplings to seat securely. This threaded connection provides axial retention while the shaft key transmits rotational force to the attached component.
