Product Description:
The MSM115-34-402-E2-0KA is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. In automated machinery, it delivers closed-loop rotary motion so that gantries, feeders, or indexing tables follow programmed speed and position profiles with repeatable accuracy. By combining permanent-magnet construction with an integral feedback device, this motor serves as the electromechanical link between the drive amplifier and the mechanical load.
Under continuous operation, the rotor can supply 3.8 Nm of torque without thermal rise beyond its rating. The shaft reaches a nominal velocity of 4000 RPM, matching many mid-speed packaging and assembly axes. Short overload events are handled with a peak capability of 12 Nm, giving extra acceleration when a move profile demands more than steady-state torque. A rotor inertia of 0.00057 kg·m² limits the energy needed to change speed, which helps the servo loop maintain low following error. When the motor turns at rated speed, the bearings may be loaded radially up to 48 kg without reducing service life. Axial load is specified as 0 kg, so thrust forces must be managed by external components. No holding brake is fitted, so position retention during power-off must come from the drive or the machine mechanism.
The feedback system is an incremental encoder with 2000 lines, and this resolution supports fine velocity and position regulation when it is multiplied in the drive electronics. Its internal electronics draw an encoder supply of +5 VDC. Overall mass is 6.6 kg, allowing direct flange mounting without elaborate support. The ST-60 steel shaft includes a M6 x 1.0 mm tapped end that is 16 mm deep for coupler retention, and it also has a keyway for positive torque transmission.
