Product Description:
The MSM100-6-602-S-2KA is a brushless servo motor built by Kollmorgen for the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Intended for axis drives in packaging machinery, pick-and-place modules, and general automation, the unit converts drive current into controlled torque and velocity with low inertia. Its electromechanical design allows machine controllers to execute rapid positioning cycles while maintaining repeatable accuracy and consistent thermal behavior.
The rotor bearing life is rated at 20,000 h, providing a clear expected service interval for the bearing assemblies. An integrated holding brake operates from a 24 VDC control line. The brake adds no length to the housing, so the overall motor depth remains unchanged when this option is installed. Position feedback is generated by an SRS 50 encoder that outputs a Sin/Cos signal for smooth interpolation inside the drive. This feedback option adds 3 mm to the motor length because of the dedicated Sin/Cos assembly. Under heavy cyclic loading, the exterior surface of the motor may reach 125 °C. Sealed bearings and suitable lubricant grades allow the bearing assemblies to operate at the stated surface temperature while remaining within their mechanical limits.
A shaft keyway allows couplings to transmit torque without slipping under changing acceleration and load conditions. The shaft supports a maximum radial load of 34 kg at 6,000 rpm, which must be considered when selecting pulleys, belts, or other overhung components. Feedback wiring mates with a shielded 17-pin connector, allowing differential signals from the single-turn high-resolution scale to reach the drive with low electrical noise. The threaded shaft end has an M5 × 0.8 mm thread with a usable depth of 12.5 mm. This threaded section provides positive retention for compatible pulleys or gear hubs. Standard collars and couplings can be attached to the keyed output interface without requiring changes to the MSM100 motor frame.
