Product Description:
The MSM100-6-602-S-0KA is a brushless servo motor built by Kollmorgen for the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Its square frame and keyed shaft fit medium-power axes in pick-and-place units, carton sealers, and other motion stages that need repeatable positioning. In an automation cell, it connects to a compatible Kollmorgen drive, receives phase-modulated power, and produces commanded torque so the controller can maintain speed and position under changing loads. The motor is supplied without an integral brake, so holding torque must be provided electrically or by external means when the axis is stationary.
The motor provides a continuous torque of 6 in-lb, allowing it to handle light material-handling tasks without overheating. At its rated speed of 6000 rpm, the motor sustains that torque for fast indexing operations. The windings are designed for a nominal bus voltage of 200 V, so the motor can connect to standard 200-volt drives without transformers. A square mounting dimension of 100 mm allows the housing to bolt onto compatible machine plates. Position data is transmitted through a 17-pin connector that carries encoder and temperature signals in one cable. This combined connection reduces the number of separate cable routes required between the motor and drive.
A single-turn, high-resolution encoder reports the absolute rotor angle, reducing the need for homing at power-up. The shaft can tolerate a radial load of 34 kg, so belt tensioners or pinions may be mounted without exceeding the bearing limit. Bearing service life is rated at 20,000 h under the L10 criterion when loads remain within the model’s axial load limit of 0 kg. During continuous duty, winding and case temperatures may rise, but the surface temperature must not exceed 125 °C. This temperature limit helps preserve insulation life and provides a clear operating boundary when forced-air or plate cooling is used. A threaded M5 × 0.8 mm tap extending 12.5 mm into the shaft end supports secure attachment of coupling hardware without altering shaft balance.
