The MSM100-6-602-M-2KA belongs to the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series produced by Kollmorgen. This compact brushless servo motor provides controlled rotary motion for positioning and velocity-regulated axes in automated machinery. Its responsive design supports applications such as indexing tables, packaging equipment, material-handling systems, and other machines that require repeatable shaft movement. Electronic commutation allows a compatible servo drive to regulate torque and speed without the mechanical wear associated with brushed motors.
The stator windings are designed for a bus voltage of 200 V, giving the drive a broad operating range for controlled acceleration and deceleration. The rotor can reach a rated speed of 6000 rpm, allowing linear axes and rotary mechanisms to move rapidly between commanded positions. Continuous torque is rated at 6 in-lb, providing the twisting force available during steady operation without excessive thermal loading. A fail-safe electromechanical brake powered by 24 VDC clamps the shaft during a loss of power or an emergency stop. Position data passes through a 17-pin feedback connector that carries multi-turn, high-resolution signals to the controller. Mechanical coupling is supported by an M5 × 0.8 mm internal thread at the shaft end. The tapped hole has a depth of 12.5 mm, allowing compatible clamp screws or pullers to engage securely without bottoming out.
The closed-loop encoder transmits angular position in Sin/Cos format, allowing the drive to correct motion when the connected load changes. A machined shaft with a keyway provides positive torque transmission to pulleys, gears, or rigid couplings. The front bearing can withstand a radial load of up to 34 kg at full rated speed without exceeding its operating limit. The housing temperature may rise to 125 °C, provided that airflow or heat sinking keeps the case from exceeding this limit. Multi-turn feedback preserves absolute position information after a power cycle, reducing the need to repeat a homing sequence when the control system restarts.
