Product Description:
The MSM100-14-604-M-2KA is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen for the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. As a rotary actuator, it converts drive current into controlled torque and speed so automated lines can position loads and follow programmed motion profiles with accurate feedback. The compact frame and integrated brake allow it to hold or accelerate machine elements such as indexing tables, linear stages, and small conveyor zones.
During continuous operation, the motor delivers 1.53 Nm of shaft torque while sustaining a rated speed of 6000 rpm. Short-term overloads are handled by a peak capability of 8 Nm, and that burst output requires up to 17.7 A peak from the drive. The rotor has 6 poles, providing electrical symmetry that minimizes cogging at low speeds. At its full rated velocity, the bearing system tolerates a radial load of 34 kg, allowing pulleys or couplings to be overhung without premature wear. A stall current of 3.4 A peak establishes the thermal limit under locked-rotor conditions. The housing with the brake weighs 6.6 kg, which should be considered when calculating the total axis mass. Threaded mounting holes use an M5 × 0.8 mm pitch to align the flange with gearboxes or adapter plates.
The rotor inertia with the integrated brake is 0.00032 kg·m², supporting rapid start-stop cycles without long settling times. Power is transmitted through a shaft that measures 14 mm in diameter and projects 30 mm beyond the front face, providing clearance for clamping hubs. The motor has a torque constant of 0.52 Nm/A and a back-EMF rating of 62 V/kRPM, allowing the drive to be sized with suitable voltage headroom and current-loop gain. A phase inductance of 22.0 mH filters current ripple. The winding resistance is 9.0 Ω, which limits steady-state heating during continuous torque production.
