Product Description:
The MSM100-14-604-M-0KA is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop positioning, it integrates a multi-turn, high-resolution feedback device that allows a drive to capture the absolute shaft position across multiple revolutions. With its 14 mm shaft and 5 mm key, the unit couples directly to compact gearboxes and load wheels for automated axes in conveyors, wrappers, and electronic assembly lines.
Under continuous duty, the motor supplies 1.53 Nm of torque while maintaining thermal equilibrium. Momentary demands can be met with a peak output of 8 Nm, providing additional torque for acceleration or cutting surges. A mechanical speed limit of 6000 rpm suits high-speed indexing applications, and the internal six-pole magnet set keeps torque ripple low. The electromagnetic conversion rate is 0.52 Nm/A, so drive current directly scales the mechanical output. During acceleration, the winding can accept 17.7 A peak. A voltage constant of 62 V/krpm indicates the back EMF, while the 9.0 Ω copper windings limit resistive loss.
Integration considerations include mass, inertia, and the power interface. The motor weighs 5.9 kg, and its rotor inertia of 0.00021 kg·m² supports fast servo loops without causing overshoot on light mechanisms. A phase inductance of 22.0 mH works with the copper resistance to filter switching edges from the drive. The 460 V supply bus supports power delivery through longer cable runs with minimal loss. At standstill, the device draws 3.4 A peak, maintaining rated torque without excessive heating. A compatible Kollmorgen servo amplifier regulates phase current during rapid changes in commanded speed. Regenerative energy produced during deceleration must be handled by the connected drive and its braking circuitry.
