Product Description:

The MSM100-14-604-E2-2KA is a brushless servo motor built by Kollmorgen and supplied within the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. This compact frame-size 100 unit combines permanent-magnet excitation with electronic commutation to generate precise rotary motion for indexing tables, pick-and-place heads, and automated sealing guns in industrial cells. A factory-mounted electromagnetic brake allows the motor to hold its position on vertical axes without external locking hardware.

It supplies a continuous shaft output of 1.53 Nm under thermally stable conditions and can accelerate loads with up to 8 Nm of torque during transient moves in palletizing and rapid labeling lines. The rated speed is 6000 rpm, and the matching drive operates from a 460 V three-phase supply while exciting windings with 9.0 Ω of resistance and supporting a peak current capability of 17.7 A. From zero speed, the motor draws a peak current of 3.4 A, and its electromagnetic geometry provides a torque constant of 0.52 Nm/A and a back EMF constant of 62 V/krpm. A 2000-line incremental encoder mounted on the shaft returns quadrature position data to the servo drive, allowing the control system to monitor motion and correct positional deviations in real time.

The holding brake engages at 24 VDC to secure the shaft when motor power is removed. With a rotor inertia of 0.00032 kg-m², the motor balances settling time against load damping, while the complete assembly has a mass of 6.6 kg for manageable installation and mounting. Control-loop stability benefits from a winding inductance of 22.0 mH, which filters high-frequency switching produced by modern servo drives and helps smooth current delivery to the windings. Mechanical attachment uses an M5 × 0.8 mm shaft thread with a depth of 12.5 mm, allowing a rigid coupling to be installed without additional adapters.
