Product Description:
The MSM100-14-602-M-2KA brushless servo motor is built by Kollmorgen within the MSM Brushless Servo Motors series. Designed as a compact rotary actuator, it converts drive current into accurate shaft motion for pick-and-place heads, packaging feeders, and light machine axes. Its design supports tight position loops and fast cycling in general industrial automation.
During continuous operation, the motor produces 14 in-lb of torque, giving machines stable force for sustained motion loops. Its winding is optimized for a 200 V bus, so standard mid-voltage servo drives can energize it without autotransformers. A rotor built with six magnetic poles yields three electrical cycles per mechanical revolution, supporting high-resolution commutation when paired with the integrated multi-turn Sin/Cos encoder. Stator windings use three-phase excitation, which minimizes torque ripple and keeps current balanced across the drive channels. The front face has an IEC-compliant 100 mm flange bolt circle, simplifying direct mounting on compatible gearboxes. A fail-safe holding brake operates at 24 VDC, allowing vertical axes to maintain position when motor power is removed.
With the brake fitted, the housing weighs 6.6 kg, allowing it to be installed on compact machine axes where component mass affects acceleration and support requirements. The bearings tolerate a radial load of 44 kg at 3,000 rpm, allowing belt pulleys or pinions to be attached without shortening bearing service life when the permitted load is observed. Power is transmitted through a keyed shaft that terminates in an M5 × 0.8 mm threaded center hole, which accepts draw bolts to a depth of 12.5 mm. A 17-pin feedback connector carries Sin/Cos signals to the drive for closed-loop position and velocity control. The multi-turn encoder preserves absolute position data across multiple shaft revolutions, allowing the controller to determine the axis position after a normal power cycle without repeating a homing movement.
